Mathieu Le Sourd, also known as MAOTIK, is a French digital artist focused on creating immersive environments, interactive installations, digital architectural sculptures, and audiovisual performances which play at the intersection of art, science, and technology.
States of matter is an immersive audiovisual performance exploring the relationship between physical matter and sound. Viewers are taken on a journey through different forms of matter, from solids to gases, liquids and plasmas. Sounds triggers influence the state of the matter present, adding a participatory dimension to the experience. The idea is to offer spectators a multi-sensory experience that fuses art, science and technology.
Mathieu approached me to create some linear soundscapes to accompany these visual representations of matter, and then would go on to develop a generative workflow that would randomly play these sounds and subsequently trigger their corresponding visuals within an immersive art installation.
